Mert provides playwrights, screenwriters, directors, and other creatives with dramaturgical support and guidance on their work. He also scouts new work in British and American theatre for potential productions and adaptations in other countries, particularly Turkey. In this role, he delivers customized and innovative recommendations in response to programming needs of directors, producers, theatre companies, and performing arts centres.

He currently serves as a Creative Associate at the Arcola Theatre and a Script Reader for the National Theatre’s New Work Department. In 2025, he supported the development of three European series projects as a Development Executive at MIDPOINT Institute’s Series Launch. He also led the development process of three film projects at Slovak Pop Up 2025. Prior to this, he was affiliated with the Netflix Adaptation Lab, where he co-developed a series for Netflix Turkey.

Mert’s credits as a production dramaturg include Femi Elufowoju jr's 54.60 Africa and the European premiere of Marc Blitzstein’s No For An Answer. Previously, he worked as a script reader for The Space and Bush Theatre, supporting their respective artistic teams in identifying and nurturing emerging talent. He is a member of the Young Vic’s Genesis Network and the Dramaturgs’ Network.
